ONCE UPON A TIME WASHED UP IN A LAND FULL OF STONES, A THIN MAN WALKED ALONE. HE KICKED AT THE RUBBLE, AT BITS OF SHELL, AT BROKEN BOTTLES, AT PIECES OF BONE. HE WAS A HOLLOW VESSEL THAT LEAKED, A MAP OF TANGLED THREAD, HIS PLANS ALL LAID ON AND CRUMPLED LIKE AN UNMADE BED. HE WAS A RATTLING COMPASS FULL OF NEEDLES, DIRECTIONS AND MESSAGES TATTOOED ON INVISIBLE SKIN - NOW ALL SHED AND BLOWN TO THE WIND. SOME CAUGHT ON BARBS OF RUSTING WIRE, THEY FLAP IN SURRENDER, ALL TORN TO SHREDS. THREAD BARE AMBITION WORN THIN, A GUT FULL OF LONGING, DREAMS MADE UP BY LIARS, THE THINGS ONCE DONE, THE THINGS ONCE HAD, ALL DRAGGED ALONG IN A ROTTING STRING BAG. THE CONNECTIONS ARE FAULTY, THE ENDS ALL FRAYED, THE KNOTS UNTIED. HE SPILT THOSE THINGS IN A LAND FULL OF STONES. BUT STILL HE LOOKS FOR THAT WATCH WITH THE NUMBERS THAT SLIPPED AND A FACE FULL OF SCRATCHES AND HANDS TO TOUCH. WHAT A TIME WE HAD. I MISS YOU SO MUCH.
